Any ideas on what movie is called?

this is a wide reach but...when I was young between 5-8 there was a vhs I would always watch and all I can remember about it is that the land the characters lived in was I quess you call it quilted, ot all blanketed. I also believe there was a slide in it towards the beginning of movie. This was in the 1980's so I have no clue. I'm hoping someone might now what I am talking about. And in the movie I beleive the character had to find an "apple" or some kind to save the land or somehting. I know strange. But anyone know?
