In rabbits, the Mitten gene is X-linked. The wild-type M allele has a dominant phenotype of pigmented paws; the m allele has a recessive phenotype of “mittens” (white paws). The Giant gene is autosomal. The wild-type g allele has a recessive phenotype of normal size; the G allele has a dominant phenotype of large size (giant). You cross a normal sized female who also had the mittens phenotype, to a male from a pure-breeding strain of rabbits that have giant size and pigmented paws.
